BB-Roma offers accommodations in B&B and apartments close to the Theatre of Marcellus, situated near Campus Martius, between the River Tiber and the Capitol.

Julius Caesar planned the construction to compete with those built by Pompey in the Campus Martius. To have the space for the Theatre of Marcellus were demolished some sacred buildings. The theater was completed by Augustus, who extended the original project, displacing and reconstructing other  sacred buildings and the ancient Temple of Apollo and the temple of Bellona. The name was the name of the husband of the daughter of Augustus.

The theatre Marcellus was born to host musical and poetry performances, and could hold up to 20,000 spectators. But the Roman public was increasingly devoted to the circus, to gladiatorial combat, so that the theater gradually lost importance until it became a sort of reserve of building materials for other buildings.
