This initiative called "Villas of Rome to open doors" is in its 4th edition and this year will be May 1 to 31. Sixty buildings and gardens will be open to the public to give the possibility to everyone to see the old houses of wealthy families of Roman antiquity.
Between the Fifteenth and Twentieth century architects and artists have offered their talent to create various forms of art to represent various historical moments: Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassicism, Eclecticism and Liberty.
Villa Giulia, Villa Lante on the Gianicolo, Villa Chigi at the Farnesina and that of Vescovio, Villa Medici are just some of the beautiful villas that will open their most beautiful rooms in the month of May; a way to enjoy a particular artistic and architectural examples that are part of our cultural heritage.
Saturday, May 30 from 9:00 am you can visit the Papal gardens of Castel Gandolfo built on the ruins of the residence of Domitian made unique by fountains, lavish gardens and 55 types of flower beds that populate the garden from 1773. Viale dei Lecci, the Garden of the Belvedere and the Piazza Quadrata will be the milestones of a walk in one of the most beautiful gardens in Rome.
The programming of the event is large, you may choose to visit the villas and gardens with a guided tour, with reservations required.
