Rome: an exhibition for Matisse

Scuderie del Quirinale propose an exhibition of Matisse: "Arabesque" from March 5 to June 21, 2015 to witness the details of his most valuable collection.

The exhibition curator Ester Coen chose 100 pieces of extraordinary beauty who arrive in Italy for the first time from the most important museums in the world: the MoMa, Ermitage and the Pompidou. The aim of the exhibition is to create the atmosphere oriental present in many works by Matisse. Colors, large spaces, perspectives arabesques and details that offer a new way of making art.

The East is always alive in the works of Matisse thanks to his training at the École des Beaux Arts with the Orientalists, begins to love those influences that makes her even more, after his many trips to Algeria, the colors of the carpets and ceramics become the protagonists of his paintings.

The exhibition also introduces the still life, with its growing between chromatic tones of green and blue this inspiration that comes from the Ottoman ceramics and makes unique works like Lilies, Iris and Mimosa.

The path continues towards primitivism and love for collections of masks and tissues, which make protagonists signs, geometry and colors work Portrait of Yvonne Landsberg.

The "Girl with headdress Persian", "Zorah on the Terrace", the "Moroccan green" were selected to tell the inspiration of Matisse and his ability to invent a space of painting able to remember fairytale worlds that reflect the elements fundamental decorations of north Africa and the Middle East.

The Scuderie del Quirinale organized, as usual, the meetings to deepen the fundamental aspects of the Matisse exhibition due to the intervention of some industry experts who will read the works emphasizing all aspects, from artistic to technical up to develop the look staff that usually affects all works.
