The Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls is the symbol of this area. Erected on the site where according to legend the saint was buried, was built in 314 and enlarged in 386. After a fire in 1823, was rebuilt in neoclassical style respecting the plant and the original size. Inside, is particularly interested in visiting, the apse mosaic with Christ blessing of 1220 or so, the tabernacle of Arnoldo DI Cambio and the cloister of Vassalletto of 1214.
